Well hello there! Got a nut for me? (Yep, I sure did...they love those cedar nuts. They probably liked the attention even better....beautiful birds...)
I expected these (there were two) snowy owls to be in a tree (like the rest of the predatory birds) but these two (only one shown here) were just standing around....
I have a lot of pictures of Sonny. He (or she) sits still for me...scared or patient...not sure. Can only hope it's not a traumatizing experience. Such a cutie.
A beautiful pair of macaws....the one on the right came right to us...(we had some cedar nuts for them)...the one on the left, was a bit wary, but eventually came around. Beautiful birds...
I think this is a "Mexican Red-Headed Amazon"....(and if not, some kind of amazon parrot).... a beauty, whichever type. Another one who looks like he or she is smiling... (kinda like that)
Why birds? Well, they're beautiful for one thing. My love of birds has evolved over time.
It started out as a temporary, safe, no-commitment transition from losing a pet, and not feeling ready to have another, to a long-term bird watching & bird feeding habit.
It's addicting. It's also work, and expense. But it's worth it to see some of these wild birds in my backyard (and anywhere else I can spot them). They're "company" and I enjoy their presence, their freedom, and their beauty.
Loving wild birds has led me to wanting a bird (or two) as a pet so now I also have pet parakeets.
They're the easiest to photograph since they're right here :) (and so cute) so they'll likely be featured here the most.
