Birdies at play. They sure make a lot of noise sometimes and I can't tell if they're having fun (and these are normal sounds of a content pair of birds) or if they're fighting and complaining. Hm. Definitely better to assume they're normal.

Angel and Sonny enjoying some out of the cage time. It helps if they're close to the cage so they won't immediately try and go back in. It's most fun when they venture out without my help, and check out their play gym on their own.

My two babies playing (when their play gym isn't a part-time shoe rack)

Friday, December 23, 2005

If I leave them alone (stop gawking at them, stop taking a few hundred quick pictures of them) they do actually "play" (kind of) on this play gym of theirs. Not lately though. Lately it's become a place to hold shoes. Shame on me!

My two babies... I actually miss them when I'm at work. Didn't quite expect that...

This bird (what kind?) had a lot of company but still came over to us for a photo op. How nice!

Beautiful Major Mitchell's cockatoo. These two (one out of frame) were shy and timid. Sad to think about why they were that way. I just hope they're better off where they are. Loved by all those (like me!) who visit and wish we could take them all home.

I have so many butt-up and back shots, I'm so impatient! But finally, once or twice while feasting, this beauty finally looked my way... and didn't fly away. Nice.

Nice close-up of Sonny....before her cere changed to something nasty looking (which I've read is normal...but for how long?)

Sunday, December 11, 2005

On a very cold snowy day some of my favorite birds (cardinals!) queued up to visit my gazebo feeder.

Friday, December 09, 2005

With a major snowstorm going on today, there was a lot of bird activity outside. I don't usually see bluejays at the suet feeder for long. They only linger (long enough for photos!) when there's snow. One good reason for it anyway. :)

It was difficult to take a good picture in the "exotics" (ie-hot, humid & dark) area at the NL Parrot Refuge. By the time we make it to this area I've taken so many pictures that I give up trying to get that "perfect shot" and just get the ones I can get. (my apologies to those birdies who got "flashed" like this one...)

Sweet Sonny(bunny).... I think "he" is actually the "she"...hard to tell but as they get older, now their ceres are changing color...sooner or later it will be clear which one is which :)

You definitely don't want to mess with the business end of a macaw. Best to make sure your powerfully beaked friend is friendly!

Friday, December 02, 2005

I've been to the Parrot Refuge in NL at least 2 times now (maybe 3?) and I can't seem to get a clear picture of these two beauties. This might be as close as I'll get. They're so friendly. Just want to give them all hug. (tho they probably wouldn't like that...)

Well hello there!
